Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico Awards Blue Impact GrantSM to Oasis Albuquerque
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico awarded a $21,600 Blue Impact GrantSM to Oasis Albuquerque to offer Foot Care Clinics, which provide toe nail trimming services to older adults who have difficulty reaching their feet. Maintaining healthy toenails is not just cosmetic; it is important for preventing ingrown nails, infections, foot pain, and falls, as well as for being able to wear safe footwear and stay active. The trimmings are completed by a healthcare professional in a private appointment at Oasis Albuquerque, allowing especially those with underlying conditions, such as diabetes and neuropathy, to safely maintain their toe nails. One person shared: “Dr. makes my toes SO MUCH more comfortable! I can walk better and am far more free to explore on trips. Shoes fit better. Extraordinary offering.” Oasis Albuquerque and clinic attendees are grateful to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico for funding this community service.
